Response to Timothy
Hello Timothy,
Thank you for sharing your post. I admire your passion for CCU. It is indeed a great institution to study and even socialize. I have gained so many insights at this institution and have grown more spiritually than ever, more than any other academic institution I have attended. What I like the most about CCU is the Christian foundation. In a world where right is wrong and wrong is exalted as right, where false theories of understanding are propagated, where God is shut out and being a Christian is deemed foolish, it is refreshing to be in CCU and experience something out of the ordinary. I have also recommended a number of people to pursue their degrees here at CCU as well. I am looking forward to graduating and putting into practice all the knowledge I have acquired here.
Regarding your unsettled mind about your employment status, some situations in our lives are not permanent. In the same way, we have different seasons, and so too our lives. You are probably in your workplace for a season. When the season changes, it will be time to move. Remember, the Israelites in the wilderness of Sinai did not move as long as the cloud stood over the Ark of the Covenant. When the Lord wanted them to move, the cloud would rise, and the Israelites would break camp (Numbers 9:17). Right now, the Ark of His presence in your life has been stationed in your current workplace. When it is time to move, He will arise, and you will move. The Sinai desert was not Canaan; your current workplace may not be your Canaan, so you may have an unsettled mind regarding it. In whichever way, God’s calming reassurance will let you know when you reach your Canaan.

Timothy’s Post
Worthy of the Call
The anchor scripture for this discussion states, “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.” 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NIV). Given the above bible verse, it is safe to say that our jobs as employees in our various organizations are the calling of God upon our lives a time, irrespective of our positions. It is by the grace of God that we work and not by our qualifications, power or intellect (1 Corinthians 15:10).
The 4-D followership model discussed by Riggio, et al., (2008) in pages 144-148 in their text is a practical analytic tool that could be used by leaders of organizations to determine the state of their employees. From the 4-D model, I will consider myself a mixed model between the first and second quadrants (that is the “Disciple” and the “Doer”) depending on the work culture of the organization.
For example, as a student attending CCU, I will unapologetically declare anywhere in the world that I am a product of CCU whether the people listening to me like it or not. In other words, I am a disciple of CCU. I believe in the values, vision and mission statements of the institution. I refer potential students to the university, and I am happy I do so because will impact them positively. However, I cannot say this about my former school where I obtained my first degree.
As a co-worker in my place of employment, I will say that I am a “Doer”. I am actively engaged, and I do my work with precision. But I am praying to God for other job opportunities that offer better benefits in terms of career growth and development. Make no mistake, I love my job and the company is a good place for students and middle-aged people to work. I appreciate God for the opportunity to have worked in the company for more than one year. I know God allowed me to be there for a purpose and a for a season. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) states, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens”. In verse 11 of the same chapter, King Solomon declares that “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end”
