Coca-Cola Strategy Map
Vision: To craft the brands and choice of drinks that people love, to refresh them in body & spirit. And done in ways that create a more sustainable business and better-shared future that makes a difference in people’s lives, communities, and our planet.
Mission: To refresh the world. To inspire moments of optimism and happiness. To create value and make a difference.
Strategy: The Company should focus on manufacturing healthy drinks, bottled in reusable eco-friendly packages, and advertising in both developed and developing countries.
Customer Perspective
Improve customer satisfaction by manufacturing healthy products. Re-launch Diet Coke and advertise other less popular brands that offer healthy choices to customers.
Become the provider of choice when it comes to healthy, non-alcoholic drinks. Source water in a sustainable manner that will help communities while establishing Coca-Cola as a sustainable company that cares for its environment and consumers
Improve public confidence through sustainable natural resource access. Reduce the carbon footprint of Coca-Cola by using new energy-efficient technology. Ensure every participant in the company’s supply chain keeps its carbon footprint at an acceptable low. Failure to adhere to this will result in the termination of the business contract between Coca-Cola and the supplier.
Finance Perspective
Increase the rate of competitiveness by introducing less-known products to developing countries. Lower production prices by switching to green packaging. The packaging will be reusable and biodegradable. This will lower the amount of pollution that the company contributes to the environment while lowering the cost of packaging in the long run (Molina & Pålsson, 2016).
Enhance cost control by opening a recycling plant or acquiring/merging with an existing plant. The company can also look into refining its marketing by targeting its advertisements to specific consumer groups with relevant products and using even more refined advertising channels. For example, sponsoring local soccer teams for school children. This strategy will create customer base loyalty from a young age of consumers and will prove to be a cheap alternative in the long run when such children grow to become loyal adult consumers of Coca-Cola products.
Increasing net income will be achieved by increasing the volume of sales. Marketing and advertising strategies that are focused on specific consumers will increase sales and profits. The company should look into creating and vigorously advertising truly healthy drinks.
Internal Process Perspective
Improve on budget efficiency through the allocation of financial resources to CSR activities that are bound to increase brand visibility, impact communities and, in turn, increase sales and consumer loyalty.
Improve the customer management process through the integration of Artificial Intelligence as part of the customer care department. Having live AI chatbots that are available 24/7 will ensure communication lines between the customers, and the company remains open at all times. This will, in turn, improve customer satisfaction (Burgess, 2017).
Improving the safety of the physical plants will require using green technology. Packaging bottles will need to be made from bio-degradable material that is safe for consumers. Plant workers will need to go for short training sessions as regards the safe use of machinery that will be used in the manufacture of green packaging.
Improve marketing where Coca-Cola will market itself as an environmentally friendly company. The company will also need to market itself as one that is concerned about the health of its consumers, both young and old.
Learning and Growth Perspective
Improve knowledge of governance and interdepartmental relations through enhanced communication channels. Coca-Cola is a large multinational company, and for it to run its business seamlessly, the staff needs to be aware of the governance structure, as this will enable the escalation of issues to the right personnel. When interdepartmental relations are enhanced through an open-door policy, there will be increased efficiency, less redundancy, and employee satisfaction as a result of enhanced relations (Alvesson, 2013).
Improving CRM skills and knowledge is very critical for the continued success of the company. Coca-Cola’s vision is to bring happiness to the world, and this starts by increasing customer satisfaction. To achieve this, employees need to be skilled in customer relations management. This will call for the HR department to continuously train and re-train its staff on how to handle customers in a way that will ensure continued purchase of the company’s products.
Improving electricity production capacity utilization is necessary as this will lower the costs of production. Coca-Cola uses a lot of electricity in its production plants. These high costs impact the final net profits. While not much can be done about electricity consumption in the plants, other sections of the companies can cut down on their consumption. Staff will need to be educated on the need to switch off all light bulbs in the offices as well as the use of energy-efficient computers and electronics. The cumulative saving of electricity consumption is bound to reduce running costs for the company (Kemp-Hesterman, Glick, & Cross. 2014).
Improving customer knowledge will involve two things. The first is printing the nutritional value of the healthy drinks that the company will manufacture. The second will be advising consumers to dispose of the empty packaging bottles in recycle bins for easy collection and recycling. The packaging will also contain consumer information on the environmental benefits of proper disposal of the bottles.
