Writing a Narrative Essay
I awoke to a sound I could not identify. The sound came from downstairs since I slept on the upper floor. I looked around for any object I could find since I thought there was something down there. As I reached under my bed for a baseball bat, I heard my brother opening the door to his room. He had also listened to the sound because it was deafening. Once I was out of my room, I found Tyler, my brother, staring at me with fear written on his face. I asked him, “will you go and check what caused the sound, or should we all go?”. Tyler, stammering, replied, “let’s both go, I cannot go down there alone.” The whole time, Tyler was holding a flashlight and directing it down the stairs. Somehow, the electricity was out, and the generator was down in the basement. As we moved down the stairs, another loud sound coming from down the stairs hit the air. My heart skipped a beat. Tyler jumped on me, dropping the flashlight down the stairs. We were stranded in darkness and did not know how to progress as we were both. Albeit my fear and confusion, I whispered in Tyler’s ear and asked, “are we still going, or should we go back to our rooms?”. Although hesitant, Tyler said, “We should go check it out,” and sucking in a deep breath, Tyler continued, “it’s probably or cat or dog dropping things on the floor.” We picked ourselves up and tiptoed downstairs. As we got down the stairs, three rapid banging sounds struck from the kitchen. My brother and I trembled like never before. Tyler started walking towards the door, and I whispered, “what are you doing”? He turned on the lights and headed towards the kitchen. Tyler seemed like he was no longer afraid of whatever caused the sound. He opened the kitchen door as I watched from a distance. He then turned on the lights and laughed hard. “It was only the kitchen window; I forgot to close it after dinner,” he said while still laughing. I walked back to my room silently, knowing that we were scared for nothing.
