Vision
Vision, to me, is the most valuable thing that God can gift me. I rely on God’s vision in every area of my life, whether family, social, academic, or career. I learned at a very young age that my plans and views of life could be distorted or perhaps not in alignment with God’s perspective. I also learned that although my plans seemed watertight, sound, and ambitious, they did not necessarily mean they had God’s blessing. I made it a habit to pray and ask God for His way or no way at all. Although it took several years to get to this mindset, I am glad that I did. Being diagnosed with breast cancer and finally fully recovering from the same fast-tracked my decision to always ask God for His way at all times. What may seem to be minor decisions (like what to eat or what to wear) are as important as what career path to take; thus, even for minor decisions, I ask God for His view.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” God gave us the gift of choice and free will to think with reason, and if we follow His will and His council, we can become our best.
This collaborative journey is no exception; I asked God for guidance, and I believe that every single day He makes His purpose for me concerning the same very clear. I only need to be trusting and follow His leading even as I remind myself that all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Session 2 Biblical Perspective Discussion
Discussion Prompt: A Vision
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29:18 (English Standard Version)
A plan without visionary leadership is almost certainly doomed to fail. Even the best thought-out plans developed by the smartest and most enthusiastic people will often fail for lack of vision and strong leadership. In this scriptural passage, “vision” refers to one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, and whose eyes are opened: knowing who you are, where you are going, who you are following and why you are following them. This comprises your world view: what you believe. The second part of this passage—“the law”—refers to obeying God and being Christ-centered instead of self-centered in this quest for obtaining your vision and your goals. As you embark on this collaborative journey of joint discovery, have you asked God for guidance?
