One of the lessons I learned from the leadership video is that teamwork is essential in every organization, including startups, because it facilitates the exchange of ideas. The teams need to include people with different expertise, knowledge and capabilities that complement each other. I also learned that the success of an organization is also dictated by how they are treated at the workplace. I learned that micromanagement might result in organizational failure because employees feel they are not given enough space to implement their ideas. The leadership video also enlightened me on the significance of having a shared goal because it gives the employees a sense of direction. Creating a vision and milestones to monitor the organization’s progress towards meeting the vision is also essential. The video also demonstrated an employer’s impact on an organisation’s success. It demonstrates that leaders may dictate organizational success by selecting the most appropriate strategy to run the organization. Employers also need to focus on selecting the most appropriate leadership style. For instance, Dana Brunetti emphasizes granting employees the autonomy to decide how they complete their assigned tasks. He states that as long as employees know what is expected of them, the employer should not keep meddling in their affairs. However, it is essential to monitor their progress to ensure they are doing the right thing. Monitoring may also include setting targets and rewarding employees who meet the targets. Performance evaluation tools may also determine whether the employee is performing as expected. I also learned that managing a startup is a process that requires constant adjustments, including the exploration of innovative ideas.
