Reflection Analysis-Journey through Lesson Planning
Learner Development
The lesson plan contains effective strategies that support learners’ academic growth and social skills development. The lesson plan has specific learning objectives, which guide the teacher in integrating the lesson. The teacher incorporated differentiated instructions that build student’s sense of belonging and ownership in the learning process. The teacher encouraged collaboration through group activities and gave students an equal opportunity to contribute to the class objectives.
The lesson plan fosters an inclusive and interactive learning environment for all students. Students interact with their peers in group work and participate in learning activities, enhancing a collaborative learning environment. The teacher also supported multisensory learning settings. Students use different senses, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (Syahputri, 2019). The word walls and charts around the class support visual learning while students use different body parts to convey meaning.
The students’ success and performance in developing desired skills show the effectiveness of the lesson plan in implementing the best teaching practices. Students acknowledge and value their different abilities as demonstrated through effective collaboration, which shows growth and development in their social skills.
Content Knowledge
The lesson plan contains effective strategies and practices that foster literacy development and instruction. Social interaction among the students through group activities motivates them to learn (Rankin et al., 2021). The teacher provided effective instructions on how to integrate each learning concept. The teacher’s instructions encourage students to focus on the learning object, supporting their literacy development.
The teacher primarily utilizes the questioning technique to encourage learning and skill development. The teacher asks the students questions throughout the learning process, which promotes engagement and participation in the learning activities. The questioning technique encourages students to brainstorm the best responses to the question, increasing their critical thinking skills and improving their literacy development (Shanmugavelu et al., 2020).
Incorporating effective teaching practices and strategies promotes students’ literacy development. Teachers should understand their students’ learning needs and ability to help them identify the most effective strategies and practices to incorporate in the lessons. Effective teaching practices and strategies help the teacher to address each student’s learning need, enhancing their learning skills and knowledge.
Instructional Practices
The lesson plan does not incorporate teaching technology, which is the most effective teaching strategy in the modern classroom. The lesson plan outlines ways of implementing the lesson systematically and sequentially. Effective time allotments are made for each part of the lesson to guide the teacher in meeting the learning objective for the lesson. Further, the lesson plan fosters a multisensory learning environment through differentiated strategies that align with students’ learning needs.
Technology has a fundamental role in students’ learning process. Game learning makes learning fun, enjoyable, and interactive. Students, especially those in early childhood development, improve their skills and knowledge of specific concepts through game learning. Scheduling for each learning activity promotes time management and helps the teacher accomplish the learning objectives.
In my future classroom, I anticipate incorporating different teaching strategies with effective technology to support students learning and encourage an interactive learning environment. Also, I anticipate adhering to the schedule developed for each objective to help meet the learning objectives. Students learn in a supportive learning environment. Hence, I will incorporate multisensory teaching strategies to encourage students’ engagement and participation in learning activities.
Assessment Data
The lesson plan standards are based on the hierarchy of literacy development. Students must attain different skills in every subject by the end of an academic year. The pre-assessment scores also influence the development of the lesson standards. Lack of mastery skills on specific concepts prompts the need to address the student’s needs. The teacher offers the students a pre-assessment test to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, influencing their teaching objectives.
The teacher incorporated effective teaching practices and strategies that helped the students improve their mastery skills in learning objectives. The teacher used high-quality scaffolding instructions to guide the students step-by-step in managing their tasks. Students worked in groups, supporting each other’s needs, while the teacher broke the tanks into smaller manageable chunks.
The development of mastery skills in the learning objective was achieved through enrichment and remediation strategies. The teacher provided mastery materials for the students who wanted advanced skills on the learning objectives. Students who encountered challenges in the learning objectives were offered remedies and supplementary classes to meet their learning needs.
Future Lesson Planning Experiences
Developing numerous lesson plans has improved my skills and knowledge of creating an instrumental lesson plan. I feel at ease and competent in meeting the best standards of a lesson plan. However, I should revise the best teaching strategies to incorporate in the lesson and assessment strategies. A teacher should evaluate students’ performance to understand the effectiveness of the teaching strategies incorporated. Also, assessment strategies help the teacher provide effective feedback to the students, encouraging them to work on their weaknesses.
Incorporating technology in the lesson plan will promote better student performance and motivate learning desires. I will also optimize multisensory teaching strategies to meet and address the learning needs of each student.
