Mission and Vision Statements – Dell Technologies
Developing a mission and vision statement is an important part of strategic management. The mission statement helps to drive the organizational strategy. It represents the main purpose of an organization and what it aims to achieve through its operations. The following is a proposed mission statement for Dell Technologies.
Proposed Mission Statement
Our mission is to be a globally successful technology and information systems company by providing technology products and IT solutions at an affordable cost. We aim to provide the best possible customer experience to our esteemed partners with the assistance of our highly valued employees. We strive to be inclusive in our participation in the technology revolution by providing the best quality technology products at competitive pricing. It is also in our best interest to reduce the digital divide by offering flexibility of products and services. We plan to achieve our objectives through the use of green methods of production.
Comparison with Dell’s Current Mission Statement
Current Mission Statement
Our mission is to be the most successful IT systems company in the world by delivering the best customer experience in all markets we serve. In doing so, Dell will meet customer expectations of:
- highest quality
- leading technology
- competitive pricing
- individual and company accountability
- best-in-class service and support
- flexible customization capability
- superior corporate citizenship.”
The proposed and the current Dell mission statements are both designed to meet a majority of the nine factors that make a good mission statement, according to David and David (2016). First, they are both short, having been structured to be below 150 words as recommended. The two mission statements are both broad in nature. They specify the company’s objective and do not include any monetary objectives. Both statements have also been designed to be inspiring, especially to people who would want to afford technology products. Both statements also focus on showing the company’s social responsibility. However, the older statement fails to show the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
