To effectively understand the managerial traits that a good leader should possess, this work explores the organizational strategies of Miranda, a fictional movie character. Miranda is a female boss admired for her work and dedication to the organization. The essay explores Miranda’s personality and traits in the context of a manager. It will also discuss ways I can attain her characteristics: training, education, and experience. The work also reveals some disadvantages of Miranda’s managerial aspects and how to market the features. It concludes by stating whether I can be comfortable working under Miranda.

Fictional Character

Management positions in organizations are challenging and require effective strategies and leadership traits to be efficiently implemented. My fictional character for the movie is a female manager named Miranda. Miranda is known to be efficient at her work, as observed through increased productivity. Employees often look up to her for guidance and inspiration in terms of professional development (Flores-Fillol et al., 2017). Based on the efforts exhibited by Miranda in the company, it is evident that the organization would retain her for quite an extended period. Exploring the managerial traits of Miranda as a leader in the organization seeks to reveal what defines effective organizational managers.

Miranda’s leadership exhibits various personalities. For instance, she is passionate about the success of the organization, result-oriented, and self-motivated (Lounsbury et al., 2016).

However, she is also demanding, an aspect that most employees do not like about her. Miranda developed her management and leadership skills by learning and gaining experience. She was first employed in the organization as a personal assistant and messenger to the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). However, with time, she gained experience in leadership. Miranda most likely gained management skills upon attending leadership conferences and workshops with her boss. Sometimes, her boss could instruct her on what to tell employees in his absence, making her more inclined toward the managerial segment. Later, Miranda independently enrolled in short-term leadership courses, making her suitable for the administrative position in the company once the previous manager preferred a job transfer.

Miranda’s management traits include employee-oriented, practical communication skills, the embrace of collaboration, and delegation skills. These features are essential for the successful management of an organization because, as a manager, workers need to be engaged for work to be done (Lounsbury et al., 2016). Focusing on the workers determines existing challenges and addresses them for the company’s success. Practical communication skills form the basis for prosperity in the organization. Managers must ensure a sound communication system for information to reach employees and enable workers to communicate effectively with management (Osborne & Hammoud, 2017). When there is good communication between managers and employees, conflicts are reduced, increasing employee satisfaction (Flores-Fillol et al., 2017). At the same time, the delegation of duties to the followers promotes accountability and translates into increased productivity.

Managerial traits can be attained through training, experience, and education. For instance, developing practical communication skills can be done by learning. Learning about the essence of effective communication in seminars or workshops can help build the skill. At the same time, being involved in an environment where managers and employees are exhibiting effective communication can help one to attain the skills based on how the information is being conveyed from one point to the other with subsequent feedback. Collaboration and employee-oriented traits can be acquired through experience (Osborne & Hammoud, 2017). Working in an environment that calls for teamwork to accomplish a task can teach an individual the significance of collaboration and be employee-oriented. Delegative skills can be gained through training and field experiences, where subjects are assigned duties and their productivity assessed compared to when there is no delegation of tasks.

The possible disadvantages of having managerial traits are that the manager tends to have over-expectations from employees, and the latter can feel that the former is too demanding at the end of the day. Once all the traits have been effectively implemented regarding workers within an organization, the manager tends to believe that they have no reason to under-deliver and sets a higher expectation that might be unrealistic. At the same time, employees can perceive the manager as demanding based on the delegation of duties (Lauring et al., 2019). In my life experiences, managerial traits can be regarded as applicable based on how leaders have applied them. Managers must work in a friendly manner with their workers to promote collaboration and employee-oriented traits. Employees need to feel that the manager is as human as them for an employee-oriented attribute to manifest. At the same time, my experience reveals that delegation of duties and embracing effective communication forms the basis of increased productivity as accountability among workers and managers enhances.

The traits can be marketed as follows:

  • Employee-Oriented – The manager can develop a friendly environment with workers and engage with them as they go about their
  • Communication skills – The manager can always seek worker feedback upon conveying a message (Lauring et al., 2019).
  • Delegative traits – The manager can assign duties to independent workers and give them timelines.

Based on the type of manager Miranda is, I think she is a good leader, and I would be comfortable working under her leadership. A leader who seeks to increase the productivity of an organization is essential, and working under her would also help me to attain critical leadership skills that I would use in the future as a manager or a leader. I can seize the opportunity of working under Miranda to learn more about management.

Miranda is an effective leader with the necessary traits to make an organization successful. She is passionate about her work and is dedicated to ensuring productivity by upholding practical communication, delegation, and collaboration skills. Most managerial traits can be acquired through experience, training, and education. Being under the leadership of Miranda could help workers to be proactive and efficient in promoting productivity.
