Leadership Development at L’oreal
Why do you think L’Oreal invests so much in leadership development?
L’Oreal believes that leadership development matters and starts at the beginning of one’s career and continues. This is why they train university graduates by having them go through L’Oreal’s management training programs.
Their leadership programs do not stop with recent graduates but are an open opportunity for all-level managers to further develop their leadership abilities through the various programs (Robbins et al., 2018). Managers are accountable for this particular skill development of their employees, and failure leads to losing out on performance rewards
What role does a mentor play in leadership development?
A mentor answers questions and provides guidance to the trainee on the organization’s culture, understanding the business models used by the various brands, creating organization relationships, and what it takes to succeed in the work environment.
Why is cross-cultural awareness important for leaders at a company such as L’Oreal?
Cross-cultural awareness is important for leaders at a company such as L’Oreal because the company is an international organization that leads diverse teams developing customized products for different parts of the world. This requires international management training programs that enable the leaders to adapt to different cultures to help them introduce international brands to local markets.
Do you think a management training program would be a good way to start a career with a company? Why or why not?
I believe a management training program would be a good way to start a career with a company because the program allows the new entrant to have background knowledge of the company and experience that is relevant to the company’s basic policies and culture. It allows the entrant to strengthen those skills that need to be improved; it boosts a feeling of value and increases the retention rate of the new entrant.
