However, some habits may not be beneficial in the wrong run and may require a person to stop them. A bad habit is like a chronic illness that may worsen in the future if not corrected at the early stages, leading to detrimental effects. When starting a particular practice, it seems easy to stop, but as time progresses, one realizes that it is not as easy as it looks. Therefore, kicking a bad habit requires a set of actions that enable a person to identify bad behavior, accept it, make the decision to change, and do everything possible to stop the behavior. Identifying these processes makes it easy to kick the bad habit. The first step to kicking a bad habit is identifying the triggers of the habit, that is, what makes one do it. After that, one should consider seeking support from relevant people such as friends, relatives, or even self-conscious. These people will help one to enact change by avoiding the triggers. Besides, one should replace a bad habit with a good one. For example, if the bad habit is drinking alcohol, one might consider taking other healthy drinks such as milk or energy drinks. In case the environment influences the bad habit, one can consider changing it. Lastly, one should practice self-care and be the agent of change. In conclusion, kicking a bad habit may not be easy, but the process can be made easier if the reason to change comes from within.
