However, it is important for police departments to ensure that they comply with the relevant security and privacy regulations. This compliance is important when dealing with sensitive data like criminal records. The police departments should ensure their cloud provider complies with laws and regulations pertaining to data protection and privacy. Clear policies for access control, risk management, and data protection within the cloud environment should be set in a way that meets compliance requirements. In order to maximize the benefits of cloud-based data analytics, the personnel in the department need proper training how to use the tools and interpret the data.
Subsequently, to ensure compliance with the security and privacy regulations, the police department should put in place measures. Measures such as ensuring all employees sign an agreement to acknowledge their responsibility to comply with the security policies. It is also important to involve staff in the development of the guidelines and procedures to increase their involvement and acceptance.
