Entrepreneurship

Steve Jobs is arguably one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the modern era based on how he revolutionized how people interact and use technology. According to Ndoro & van Niekerk (2019), the behavioral traits possessed by Steve Jobs were the reason behind his entrepreneurship skills. The behavioral skills include self-independence, boldness, innovation, and confidence. Additionally, he maintained many traits that led to the success of Apple Inc. First, Steve Jobs was proactive. Notably, he thrived on working hard and setting goals proactively. Further, he was ambitious, determined, energetic, enterprising, and self-motivated in spearheading companies like Pixar, NEXT, and Apple. Second, Steve Jobs has been described as having a high level of dominance. He had the desire to take control wherever and whenever possible. In his own words, “It is tough to design products by focus group. Often, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” Perhaps this explains why he was a leader who had a reputation as a tyrannical micromanager with a need to be in charge.

Third, Steve Jobs displayed a high level of autonomy. He desired to work independently, irrespective of what others thought of such behavior. He encouraged people not to waste time living other people’s lives because time is limited (Yanzhen, 2020). The vital need to act independently with a questionable character of ignoring customer feedback in favor of his goals and vision enabled him to develop successful companies. Fourth, Steve Jobs had a high endurance trait, which describes a solid ability to persist with any task until it is completed. He managed to take setbacks and failures as the motivation to push ahead. Finally, Steve Jobs was both critical and creative. He desired to connect things through innovativeness while paying critical attention to details.
