The Need for a Clear Approach to Analyzing and Designing a Complex Field

A clear approach is required when analyzing a complex field because it serves different purposes in creating solutions. Scope Determination

Finally, the classification of a scenario according to the time scopes applied occurs.

Global Analysis/Design

After classification, the next step is to analyze a scenario following some structured steps. Firstly, a scenario is described according to the BOAT framework from a global perspective. Next, BOAT elements concerning the global context will be analyzed. Thirdly, BOAT components relevant to the scenario at hand are selected. The chosen BOAT elements can be one or two and must have a leading character.

Dependency Analysis

 Dependency analysis in BOAT refers to a process applied when analyzing dependencies between activities (Grefen, 2015). The analysis reveals dependency between different activities in e-business. It also delves into the impact of time events on implementing activities. If the outcome of a certain activity influences the execution of another activity, then there is dependency.  

Leading Aspect Selection

A leading aspect comes into play when analyzing the BOAT framework. Analyzing BOAT requires an emphasis on the now, near future, and far future. The leading aspect is considered when selecting a BOAT element for the near and distant future. An ideal aspect is identifiable when the future is conceptualized carefully. One must avoid focusing on short-term considerations since this may cause limitations that may prevent pragmatic thinking. In short, a leading aspect is realized after thinking about the future, exploring possibilities, and coming up with an ideal world situation (Grefen, 2015).

Detailed Analysis/Design

Massive developments characterize the field of networked e-business. Therefore, conducting a detailed analysis/evolution study will aid in understanding the operations of e-business. Detailed analysis of e-business can be done retrospectively, that is, by looking at the past (Grefen, 2015). When analyzing the past of e-business, two moments are selected: now and the past. The past is a moment that occurred long ago, say a few years ago, when a business scenario was precise. On the other hand, the now refers to a stable moment. That may refer to events that occurred, say, a month ago. A BOAT analysis is performed for both periods, and that is what is referred to as a detailed analysis.
