Implementing Effective Quality Control Mechanisms for JTL Enterprises
One of the most important things in the manufacturing process is setting quality standards that are used to determine the success of the manufacturing process. Therefore, many manufacturing firms use quality control to ensure the end product meets quality standards. Quality control is also important in the manufacturing process because it enables the manufacturing team to maintain the quality required for all products and meet customer expectations. The main types of quality control include acceptance sampling, process control, product quality control, and control charts. Acceptance sampling enables the manufacturing team to determine the quality of products based on selected samples. Process control includes actively altering a process to create a different result without a lot of monitoring. Product quality control includes illustrating how a product meets specific qualities by comparing the product with various product factors. Control charts on the other hand are a graphic representation of the changes in a process over time.
The two methods of control mechanisms that will be used for quality control at JTL Enterprises are attribute and process control charts. According to Schroeder & Goldstein (2021), manufacturing companies frequently use control charts located on every machine to control the machine’s output quality. Control charts include periodically ranking quality measurements and plotting them on the chart to ensure that the machine is still producing at its expected tolerance without changing the range and average. The attribute control chart will be used to ensure that the machines used to manufacture frames and enclosures produce the right quality of frames and enclosures at the anticipated range. The process control charts will be used to ensure that all manufacturing processes are completed as expected. The two attribute charts that will be used in the manufacturing process are the P-chart and C-chart. The P-chart will be used to monitor the percentage of samples with the same condition relative to a fixed sample size when each sample can have the selected condition. The c-chart will be used to monitor the number of times a condition arises relative to a constant sample size when every sample can have more than one occurrence of the condition. The two conditions that will be compared using the p and C-charts will be defects and defectiveness. Defects will be specific non-conformities such as bending and cracks. Defectiveness will include various non-conformities in one product.
The manufacturing team will also create a variable control chart for quality control. According to Schroeder & Goldstein (2021), a variable control chart is used to measure specific variables. A continuous variable will be measured for each product when every sample unit is inspected. Two values will then be computed from the sample which will include a measure of central tendency and the measure of variability. Therefore, there will be two control carts. One of the carts will be used to measure central tendency, and the other one will be used to measure the process’s variability. The charts will be stopped when it is established that the measure is out of control to allow the manufacturing team to determine the cause of variability. The main variables that will be considered will include durability, reliability, and functionality of the frames, enclosures, axel, and assemblies. The quality control standards will ensure that all products are durable, functional, and reliable. These variables will be considered to maintain uniformity in the quality of products manufactured in all manufacturing plants. However, additional variables may be added based on customer specifications.
