Section 1- Importance of Strategic Decisions
Strategic decisions focus on improving the overall performance of an organization and creating a long-term competitive advantage (Peredalo & Shkryl, 2020). Strategic decisions are important because they help an organization align short-term objectives with long-term goals by considering operational and tactical decisions. Organizations can also set clear decisions by following the SMART criteria, which incorporate specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely goals. The second reason is increasing operational efficiency. Strategic decisions enhance operational efficiency by giving employees a clear direction by properly defining the goals the organization should focus on and providing the resources needed to achieve the goals. Organizations can also implement strategic decisions by detailing budgetary needs and ensuring that every employee has the resources needed to complete their tasks.

What is the employees’ ability and willingness to change?
Most strategies require making changes that could affect employees positively or negatively, and resistance to change could affect the implementation of the strategy and negatively affect an organization’s performance (Kovacic, 2017). Therefore, organizations need to ensure that their employees are able and willing to change to embrace the recommended strategy.

Does our organizational structure support the strategy?
According to Kortmann (2012), an organization’s strategy priorities are reflected in its organizational structure. Some strategies require a decentralized structure, while others require a centralized structure. Therefore, organizations need to evaluate their structures to create an ideal environment for implementing the proposed strategy. Organizations must also consider the disruptions caused by changing their structure to support strategic priorities.

What are our long-term and short-term goals?
An organization’s strategy needs to be aligned with its long-term and short-term goals (Rahman et al., 2019). The selected strategy should influence employees’ actions toward meeting the organization’s long-term and short-term goals. According to Ross (2021), a strategy also gives management a roadmap to align the organization’s functional activities to achieve long-term and short-term goals.
