For employees of a certain organization to form a labor union, they must follow specific steps for the union to be recognized as a legit union. Below is a flow chart that shows step by step process of forming a labor union.

The Federal Labor Relations Authority is the counterpart of the National Labor Relations Authority for the federal government. The primary responsibilities of the Federal Labor Relations Authority are to resolve complaints of unfair labor practices, determine appropriate bargaining units, decide the appeals to labor arbitrators’ awards, resolve disputes and conduct outreach training for federal agencies and unions (Koppekin, 2017). Some of the functions of the National Labor Relations Authority are allowing employees the right to form unions, asking employers to engage in collective bargaining, allowing employees the right to engage in concerted activities, and resolving labor disputes. For employees to join a labor union, they must be permanent employees of the organization. Employers must recognize them as their employees (Marshal, 2018). Thirdly, the union that the employees want to join must be a registered union with the National Labor Relations Authority. The employee must agree to the terms of the union and register as a member.
