I understand that communication is vital in maintaining a good relationship between managers and employees. According to Sigroha (2021), a good communication style can increase job performance and employee morale and create a positive workplace (p. 5103). I will use my communication philosophy to encourage communication between all employees in the organization and me and apply empathy to understand their needs. The foundation of my communication philosophy will be being as approachable and receptive as possible by creating open and meaningful conversations with employees. I will also focus on encouraging every employee to share their opinions and provide feedback that can be leveraged for organizational growth.

I will also use the communication philosophy to reduce tension in conversations relating to employee performance. I will emphasize understanding why an employee may not be performing as expected before deciding the next course of action. Notably, Green (2013) states that a conversation between an employee and a manager can shift the employee’s perspective, influence their choices, and affect their performance (p. 23). Therefore, I will use the assertive communication style to express what I expect from the employees and listen to their feedback to create a conducive work environment.
