Dissertation Discussion-My Weekly Learning
My Weekly Learning, Including the Discussion of Findings Section of Chapter 5
According to Durkin (2020), the discussion section of a dissertation focuses on explaining the main findings of research and linking them to past studies. Writing my discussion section was challenging because there is limited research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on African Americans. Therefore, I had to rely on past research on the effects of a pandemic on businesses and the measures taken to sustain enterprises during that time. Discussing findings also helped me link my findings with the research hypotheses and demonstrate how the hypotheses were tested. I used the template in the course material to get an idea of what to include in the section. I also read the discussion and findings section of other dissertations written by other students to learn how to link my findings with past studies.
My Weekly Learning, Including The Recommendations For Leaders And Practitioners Section Of Chapter 5
Donnelly et al. (2013) argue that research focuses on contributing to existing knowledge by providing the audience with new information. The primary audience of research includes students, policymakers, and leaders. It was hard to distinguish between the appropriate recommendations for leaders and practitioners based on the definition of practitioners as people engaged in a particular discipline. My primary assumption was that practitioners could also be leaders, thus generalizing the recommendations. The template in the course material helped construct the recommendations because I used it to narrow down the recommendations based on how leaders and practitioners might mitigate the problem reviewed in the research using the information from my findings.
How I Have Ensured That My Conclusions And Recommendations Align With My Results
A dissertation’s conclusion section guides what a researcher should recommend for future researchers, leaders, and practitioners (Fisher & Buglear, 2010). I focused on the research questions to develop the conclusion section and identify any information that may not have been covered in the research due to limitations such as the selected research method, size of the study population, and scope of the study. I aligned my conclusions with the recommendations by ensuring that the recommendations for leaders and practitioners involved in applying the research findings in the real world. I also focused on the study’s limitations and the findings of other research studies contrasted with my findings to design recommendations for future research.
How I Will Continue My Involvement In Scholarly Communities Following Dissertation Completion
I intend to maintain my involvement in scholarly communities following my dissertation completion through peer-reviewed research studies that cover the research problem addressed in my research. According to Álvarez et al. (2021), peer reviews increase the value of research by ensuring that the findings discussed by a researcher draw accurate conclusions and answer meaningful questions. I will volunteer to peer review other students’ dissertations for approval by publishing companies and give feedback on improvement areas. I can achieve this by filling out online peer feedback questionnaires on dissertation papers written by other researchers. I will also share my research with other researchers and scholars who may need it for their research projects by making it available in the school’s library. I will also ensure that my research is published in a journal that allows researchers to access research papers for free through their database.
