Discussion – Writing a Good Email
Elements of a Good Email
Writing professional emails is premised on attention to specific elements. First, there should be a clear subject line detailing the main point of the email (Bartl, 2017). Also, there is a need for a proper salutation at the beginning of the email. Salutations should be included whether the email is addressed to external or internal recipients. Thirdly, after salutations, brief and focused content follows. The goal is to make the email as brief as possible, hence the need to ensure the content is focused (Bartl, 2017). At the end of the email, a signature block, including the sender’s contact information, name, and position, follows. A signature block provides a recipient with clear ways to reach the sender.
Proper Email Formatting
Proper formatting is also crucial to writing effective emails. After salutations, what follows is a body paragraph containing the message. An opening, which may be an introduction or reference to previous communication, is included at the beginning of the email (Bartl, 2017). Besides, the content should be concise and clear. The body should be divided into paragraphs containing a single point or idea to ensure readability. Professional closing should be included at the end of the body paragraph. One should use formal closings such as ‘best regards’ and ‘sincerely’ at the end of the body.

Subject: Clarifying Assignment Dates and Grading Scheduling
Dear Professor,
Hoping this finds you well, I am seeking clarification regarding the due date for the recent assignment. According to an earlier schedule, the assignments were due on 11/10, so I completed the work by that date. However, I have since noted some discrepancies in the deadline.
Please clarify if I will receive credit for the assignment as delivered by 11/10. If that is not the case, I would like to know if I can resubmit the work in a different format.
Also, I would appreciate an update on when the assignment will be graded.
Your assistance is much appreciated!
