Objective 1: How Views of Early Childhood Education Vary Over Time

Views about early childhood education keep changing across cultures. To meet this objective in the future, I plan on advocating the need to develop a culturally and linguistically appropriate learning environment that caters to the needs of varied learners. Besides, Trawick-Smith (2014) advocates for the need to offer meaningful, relevant, and appropriate challenging activities across interests and abilities.

Objective 2: Interactions with Children and Families, Curriculum Planning and Identification of Children with Disabilities

The study of early childhood development in a diverse world empowers teachers with tools to ensure social equality through effective teaching practice. According to Trawick-Smith (2014), the collaboration between educators, caregivers, and parents helps guide students through the right path by ensuring that children are exposed to healthy influences. To achieve the objective of interacting with children and families, I intend to boost my understanding of the children and families’ cultural backgrounds and what makes them unique and apply varied learning styles. However, in order to accommodate learners with disabilities, I plan on creating a sense of community through developing an inclusive classroom that caters to the needs of all learners.

Objective 3: Understanding and Appreciation of Diversity and Shaping Public Policy

As a teacher, I plan on meeting the objective of understanding and appreciating diversity by acting as a facilitator and encouraging students to participate in healthy conversations and accommodate diverse opinions. Additionally, I plan on improving student interactions by exposing them to group assignments, hence exposing students to diverse perspectives and allowing them to explore and solve problems. This way, I will be able to shape public policy because learners will consider each other as equals.

Objective 4: Articulate the Reasons for Studying Early Childhood Development from a Multicultural Perspective

I plan to achieve this objective by helping other educators understand the importance of equality and inclusion in education. When students learn the importance of co-existing with others despite their differences, they grow curiosity and creativity. Therefore, I will help educators understand the importance of developing an inclusive environment in the classroom that accommodates differences.
