What Did You Learn

What Did You Learn

The three most important things that I learned during my course work include the types of advanced practice nurses, the roles of each advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), and the importance of holistic nursing services. The four types of advanced practice nurses are certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), and certified nurse practitioners (CNPs) (Adams & Markowitz, 2018). The educational requirements of APRNs include master’s and doctoral programs. Each APRN performs unique roles. Certified nurse-midwives discharge obstetrics and child health care services, whereas CRNAs provide anesthesia to patients (Tamura et al., 2021). CNS is involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, whereas CNPs provide primary health care services. According to Hajbaghery (2018), holistic nursing services aim at fulfilling all of the patient’s needs. The needs can be psychosocial, physical, economic, or spiritual.

This knowledge will be useful for my future nursing practice. The knowledge enables me to know the job descriptions of each APRN. Accordingly, this is important for my specialization. It will enable me to discharge my duties diligently with minimal supervision. Furthermore, it will enable me to acknowledge the specialties and knowledge of other APRNs. By so doing, I will collaborate with them in my practice to ensure quality and relevant services are delivered to the patient. I will provide holistic nursing services that respect the differences between patients. These services will help create a good rapport with patients, promote compliance, and increase the patient’s quality of life.

I will utilize three strategies to ensure success in my master’s program. I will work in concert with my instructors to ensure that I understand my coursework. Essentially, this entails both theoretical and practical coursework. I will establish academic discussion groups with my colleagues. Subsequently, this will provide additional knowledge and a deeper understanding of the content covered in class. Also, the discussions will be scheduled to fulfill the needs of each member of the group. The third strategy is scheduling my activities to avoid time wasters. The schedule will prioritize urgent and essential tasks. Consequently, this will enable me to remain focused on the master’s program and ensure that I am successful.
