Apple’s Covid-19 Response

Bou-Karroum et al. (2017) argue that media interventions can potentially influence health policies. After the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, many companies began creating awareness on preventive measures that people should use. The primary tool used to pass the message was social media platforms. Apple is one of the companies that responded via social media. The company’s message was to create awareness of what the company is doing to respond to the pandemic. The company successfully passed this message by beginning with an introduction stating the significance of its contribution in responding to the pandemic. This is based on the statement, “we are people first, and we do what we do with the belief that technology can change lives and the hope that it can be a valuable tool in a moment like this” (Apple’s COVID-19 response, 2020) The message was also successful because it provided a detailed explanation of what the company has been doing by dividing it into different sections. The first section focused on how the company has been giving back to the community during the pandemic. The second section included what the company has been doing to handle the pandemic in its offices. The third section stated what the company is doing to help its users and partners during the pandemic. The final section provided an overview of what the company intends to do in the future to effectively respond to the pandemic. The message was also successful because it included links to sites that readers can visit to get more information, such as the customer support link for readers who may need help and the link to the company’s online stores for readers who may need to make purchases.
