Multi-tiered system of Support (MTSS) is a system framework used by schools in developing specific levels of support and early intervention for struggling students; it covers a broader area to include social and emotional problems. Response to Intervention (RTI) is more targeted using three levels: whole class groups, small groups, and intense intervention both MTSS and RTI can be used together to help struggling students (Understood.org, 2021). These frameworks help students by first using whole-group instruction. This is where a student’s struggles become visible; the next step can be taken to help the student to make progress. Tier Two is a focus and small group intervention to help students understand the material. This three is tier is an individual intense intervention helping students succeed and progress toward goals; They are using these frameworks in tandem with each other to help ensure early strong intervention to help students struggling with academic, behavioral, or other problems. The benefit of using these frameworks isis that teachers collect data and spot struggling students early on. This helps intervene and help develop strategies to help students reach their goals. This can help to decrease problem behavior and help students to control and understand emotions.
