Question
The NAEYC Academy sets and monitors standards for high-quality early childhood education programs and accredits programs that meet these standards. Since the early 1980s, NAEYC Accreditation has been helping parents make the right choices and improving the quality of education and care provided in programs for young children. Parents looking for a high-quality program for their young child can watch the Right Choice for Kids video and search for an NAEYC-accredited program. Programs interested in achieving NAEYC Accreditation can learn more by visiting the NAEYC Accreditation tab.
Since this week’s readings have focused on creating high-quality learning environments, it makes sense to review the premier accreditation agency’s view on this subject. Visit the following website to review the Overview of the NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards: http://www.naeyc.org/files/academy/file/OverviewStandards.pdf.
After reviewing each of the 10 standards, write 2 specific ways in which you can ensure that you will meet the requirement in your classroom. List each standard, number your responses for each standard, and write in complete sentences – you will submit a total of 20 statements. Be creative and really try to envision what a high-quality learning environment would look like. Please remember to create your document in Microsoft Word, use Times New Roman or Arial 12 point font, double space your work, and submit your assignment to the appropriate dropbox.
