Theoretical Model Framework-Nurse Practitioner Theoretical Framework
A theoretical framework provides a roadmap for a project. It enables a researcher to organize ideas and remain objective. This paper evaluates a theoretical framework that I will use for my project. The chosen theoretical framework is the family nurse practitioner theoretical framework. This framework focuses on providing comprehensive healthcare services to various family members (Norwich.edu, 2020). To accomplish this, it embraces an evidence-based approach. Also, the framework identifies the importance of research and information sharing (Norwich.edu, 2020). Nurses are required to engage in research, identify current evidence, and use it in their decision-making process (Norwich.edu, 2020). Additionally, the framework directs that nurses should participate in health promotion and advocate for disease prevention. This can be accomplished by providing patient-centered education and by working in concert with other healthcare providers (Norwich.edu, 2020). Furthermore, the theory adopts a family-centered care approach that entails fulfilling the needs of every family member.
The framework supports both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. Quantitative research allows an individual to verify the hypothesis and evaluate variables (Hoover, 2021). Also, quantitative research is dependent on numerical data (Hoover, 2021). In this context, the FNP framework will allow nurses to formulate hypotheses, conduct research, and collect data to test their hypotheses. This will enable them to adopt evidence-based strategies to address the existing problem. On the other hand, qualitative research is descriptive and interpretive (Hoover, 2021). It depends on individual accounts and demonstrates people’s behaviour (Hoover, 2021). In this context, the FNP theoretical framework will allow nurses to interact with patients and their families to understand factors that predispose them to specific conditions such as venous thromboembolism. By so doing, they will formulate individualized care plans for patients.
Various quantitative and qualitative research methods will be used. Examples of quantitative research methods include questionnaires, surveys, and reports from databases (Hoover, 2021). Examples of qualitative research methods include interviews, personal accounts, focus groups, and observation (Hoover, 2021). These approaches will allow the researcher to remain objective and collect relevant information.
The FNP theoretical model will be used to evaluate the project. The project aims at reducing the incidence and prevalence of venous thromboembolisms in the ICU. The FNP theoretical framework has various aspects that can be used to evaluate the project. Firstly, the theoretical framework emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention (RegisCollege.edu, 2021). This aspect will be used to accomplish risk stratification for patients admitted to the ICU unit. Disease prevention will also be used to evaluate the success of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis. Secondly, emphasis on research and evidence-based practice will ensure that the best venous thromboembolism prophylaxis techniques have been selected. Also, it will ensure that the best ultrasound screening and risk stratification approach has been adopted. Thirdly, the theoretical model advocates for integrative care. Integrative care incorporates nursing knowledge with information from other medical fields (RegisCollege.edu, 2021). This ensures that the most plausible practices have been selected. Integrative care will facilitate the success of the project by evaluating factors that impact preventive strategies.
Conclusion
The chosen theoretical framework is a family nurse practitioner. This framework focuses on the provision of comprehensive healthcare services, research, information sharing, and integrative care. The FNP framework embraces qualitative and quantitative research methods. The model will be used to evaluate interventions such as risk stratification for patients admitted to the ICU unit, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis approaches, and ultrasound screening.

Question
Select the specific theoretical framework that you will use with your project (education, leadership or FNP). Describe how the theory that you chose aligns with your capstone project. Include the following information:
Describe the key features of the selected theoretical framework/model. What are its major components?
Theoretical Model Framework-Nurse Practitioner Theoretical Framework
Identify specific research approaches appropriate for use with the theoretical model or framework and how it fits with your intended project.
Does the model lend itself to quantitative or qualitative methods or both?
What kind of quantitative/qualitative methods would be most appropriate? (Focus groups, interviews, pre/post-tests, record review, survey, etc.)
Describe how the theoretical framework might be used to evaluate the program/project and critique how well the model fits the program or project.
What aspects of the model work well, and what aspects do not?
Why?
