The hypothesis of the outcome of the proposed research study
The primary focus of the research was to see how learners from low-income families can get the necessary support they need to succeed in the classroom. The outcome of the proposed study would be that learners from low-income families do not get the support they need to succeed in school because of different challenges. Learners from low-income families experience or are exposed to different backgrounds and family challenges that either interrupt or affect their learning. First, the research is likely to find out whether learners from low-income families are engaged in too many family duties or their parents are busy working to meet the financial and social needs of the student. As such, most learners are assigned so many roles after school. As a result, they fail to do their homework, are absent from school, or forget to concentrate in class because they are too sleepy.

In addition, the research is likely to find out that students from low-privileged families cannot be successful in the classroom because of poverty. In most families, the parents earn salaries below the minimum wage. The learners either stay for days without food or even go hungry at school (Compton‐Lilly & Delbridge, 2019). Such things affect learners’ concentration in class because one cannot learn effectively while hungry. Due to such challenges, the research proposed that teachers should work with parents to help learners from such backgrounds to help improve their concentration in class and be successful in the classroom.
Thoughts of what will change or improve the research question
The original research question was: what strategies can be used to support children from low-income families to get the necessary support to succeed in the classroom? This is likely to improve or change because I studied what strategies can be used to support children from less privileged families. I learned how to get them the needed support to be successful in the classroom and the factors that make learners from less privileged families not be successful or concentrate in class. The research question will change to that because I learned that learners from low-income families need support to succeed in the class before finding the strategies to support them. Grothaus and Cole (2010) affirm that identifying candid solutions to an issue means knowing the issue’s natural causes. Therefore, I realized the importance of finding the root cause of the lack of success in class. This root cause can only be seen by identifying the factors that impact students’ learning from low-income families through the identified challenges. It would be easy to give appropriate strategies that instructors and parents can employ to support learners from low-income families to be successful in class. Mills (2013-2014) states that taking action without identifying the factors contributing to the problem can lead to misdirected efforts that waste resources and time.

Initially, I was not aware of what action research meant. I learned about action research through this course. When the course began, I viewed action research as just the regular research of ideas, which looked too complex. It never seemed like an essential segment in this course until the point where I began the assignment on action research. I was naïve and unknowledgeable about action research. Still, my perspective and thoughts about the research changed after taking the course—even the previous definition of action research as regular research wholly changed. Action research has become a much more enjoyable and motivating unit. I perceived action research as a mere or common aspect of research, which initially was less critical.
How has your understanding of action research changed?
My understanding of action research has changed since the week one discussion. The causal definition of action research changed to an approach to educational study used mainly by educational professionals and practitioners to inspect and improve the practice and teaching. Therefore, action research is the extension of the reflection plus vital self-reflection that a tutor employs daily in the classroom. Remarkably, I am impressed that my casual perception of action research changed; thus, I realized that action research offers learners new understanding and knowledge about improving educational practices or solving vital issues in schools and classrooms. Most importantly, Mills (2013-2014) affirms that action research places the student-teacher in a research atmosphere to enable them to learn the vital steps of researching and ultimately implement action research strategies to solve classroom and school issues while teaching. Besides, the discussions helped me understand that action research is an approach to studying that utilizes continuing cycles of reflection, observation, and action to expose effective resolutions to problems and matters.
How will action research help in current and future roles?
Action research will help me as an early childhood professional in my current and future roles. It will enable me in my current and future role in the teaching field to reflect on what should be changed by exploring what others are doing in that experiment and field with practice in a controlled approach (Mills, 2013-2014). Such practical training helps me as a teacher to improve learning and teaching through classroom-based study. Secondly, action research will help me in the future because it invites me to learn more about classroom practice, which enriches my instructional repertoire, and then reflect on the way to teach (Mills, 2013-2014). Through action research, I believe my attitude, professional expertise, and identity can keep changing as I consider my and my learners’ needs in my context. Finally, action research will help in my future role as a professional teacher to get real-time resolutions for real problems in the classroom. For example, the problem I chose for my action research was how learners from low-income families could get the needed help and be successful in school. I will find real-time solutions to this issue through action research and ultimately get the right strategies to support learners from such improved backgrounds. Besides, action research will help me involve learners in the curriculum by ensuring that I employ the right strategies that promote active engagement of learners in classroom activities and make them feel ownership of their learning.
How to use action research in the future to be a change agent or leader in early childhood education
In addition, action research can be used shortly and be the change instrument in early childhood education. Action research often situates teachers as learners because it provides an intentional and systematic approach to changing teaching. Therefore, in the future, as I plan to further my studies as a qualified action researcher and work as part of community practice as an action researcher, I will engage in sustained professional learning activities to explore the daily practice and work of teachers to bring about educational changes. As an agent and leader in early childhood education, this would be of so much help (Mills, 2013-2014). Doing action research will allow me to become a strong leader in my community because I will acquire effective ways of being a reflective practitioner in class and a role model to the other tutors. This will also help me share my new knowledge and ideas about teaching with other art teachers within the district and state and then ask them to try their informal studies in their classes. Through action research, teachers can change their focus from one of the agreements to inquiry and innovation, creating a more engaging learning setting for the learners.
Research and Resource Expectations
The research and resource expectations ensure that the action research questions are answered convincingly and that all the necessary resources are gathered and in place before the research process begins. The research expectation is to meet all the guidelines and rules of the research study to ensure all the participants’ information is kept safe and utmost privacy is maintained.
Conclusion
Notably, it was amazing knowing that action research is fundamental to any teacher, ensuring smooth and effective teaching. It disappoints me that previously, I had a naïve and negative notion of action research. Still, after engaging in the discussions since week one, my perception completely changed, and I have realized the importance of action research in my future career as an early childhood educator. Action research ensures we find real-time solutions to learners’ problems using action research-based approaches. Besides, I hypothesized the research outcome would be finding out that various challenges result in learners from low-income families not being successful in the classroom. As a result, the research question improved to determine the factors that make learners from low-income families not succeed in class and ultimately come up with strategies to help them succeed.
