Sample Answer
The Sentencing Process and the Problem of Prison
The sentences and corporal punishment in the first case were severe but appropriate. Rape is a serious crime whose punishment should be a lesson to others. For instance, bodily Penalty reminds culprits of what awaits them if they commit the same offense again (Hamdan, 2013). Imprisonment alone is insufficient because these individuals may continue their criminal behaviors in custody.
If I were a warden, I would advocate for vocational training for the prisoners to equip them with skills to help them survive after their life in custody. However, some human rights activists view this initiative as a means of exploiting the prisoners by using them to provide cheap labor (USA today, 2006). They also think inmates do not have equal opportunities to join the training programs.
