The Role of Regulatory Compliance in Healthcare- Experience Training and Necessity
I work for a clinical laboratory that is CLIA and CAP certified. In addition, we deal with HIPAA daily. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal regulation. This law requires the creation of measures and standards to protect sensitive medical information from being disclosed to unauthorized individuals without the consent or knowledge of the patient (Cohen & Mello, 2018). We have created standards and measures to protect sensitive patient information, such as passwords and authentications, to ensure unauthorized individuals do not access this information.
We live in an era of online courses. I have attended several online regulatory compliance training at compliance online. This organization offers several webinars that train individuals on the healthcare industry’s various laws that require compliance. It has helped me handle risks and benefits associated with regulatory compliance. These webinars are delivered by renowned experts in the regulatory compliance sector. Regulatory compliance is essential in our healthcare organization since it improves patient care. We improve patient care by basing our healthcare decisions on current and appropriate regulatory measures. This results in the delivery of quality patient care. Regulatory compliance also helps to avoid trouble with government authorities. It helps us identify any problems and implement them before a government agency imposes fines and sanctions.
Healthcare regulations are developed by all levels of government, such as local, state and federal. Government regulation is essential in the healthcare delivery industry. Healthcare standards and regulations are important to ensure compliance and offer safe and quality healthcare to all persons who seek healthcare services (Dunbar et al., 2021). It is thus critical that all healthcare organizations implement strategies and policies that align with regulatory standards and compliance.
