The Mona Lisa Painting

The Mona Lisa Painting

The Mona Lisa painting is indeed one of the finest works of art that have ever been made. In this regard, after virtually visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris, I was able to strongly identify with this painting because it expresses my ‘mythic’ personality. This work of art, the Mona Lisa, was done by the widely acknowledged painter Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. Undoubtedly, what made me choose this painting is the fact that it is mysterious. In this case, for instance, when one looks at her eyes, her mouth is in peripheral vision. By so saying, it sees in black and white. As such, it accentuates the shadows that are at the corner of her mouth, which makes it seem larger. However, the smile fades when one takes a direct look at it. The variability of her smile, the fact that it virtually changes when one looks away from it, is what gives her life and mystery (De’Firenze & Pavia, 1996). Like the rest of the paintings by this artist, this painting was not signed or even dated once. Despite the contentious debate on the identity of the mysterious Mona Lisa, it is credited to Giorgio Vasari. As such, it is extensively assumed that Giocondo, who was a cloth and silk merchant ordered it to be painted for his wife, but she never received it. Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter, architect, and sculptor whose intelligence and skill undoubtedly epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal (Freud, 2013). Two of his most famous paintings, the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, were the most influential paintings during the renaissance period.
