The Exclusive Path to Salvation- Jesus Teachings on the Narrow Gate and the Way
Christian Exclusivism
Frequently, people contest the notion that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Their argument is strengthened by the aspect of tolerance in the modern-day pluralistic society. The assumption is that people doubt that there surely must be other ways to seek salvation other than seeking Jesus as the only way. However, as this paper will prove, indeed Jesus is the only way to salvation.
The earliest disciples of Jesus maintain that he is the only way to God, and by so saying, he is the Son of God. Therefore, if one cannot accept him as the only way to salvation, it means that their rejection of Jesus would imply that they may not want to be with him for all eternity after all. Also, God has “…entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him” (Bible Gateway passage: John 5:22-23 – New International Version, 2011). It is clear that rejecting Jesus, who was given all authority, is simply rejecting God Himself. As such, Jesus is the only absolute way to get to God. If there were other alternatives, God would have given them.
Besides, the Bible is clear about Jesus in a distinct way. As Jesus is God Himself, God, therefore, entered the human world to suffer the effects of sin to set us free, a gift to us. God desires inclusivity and exclusivity, but “…God desires to include all, but he desires to include them exclusively through Christ” (Lamca, 2016). As such, the grace doctrine teaches us that there is no other pathway to salvation. Only through Christ is it possible. It does not matter whether people understand it or when they are saved; Jesus is the only way to be saved.

Question
Jesus made many absolute statements, such as the following:
John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (NIV).
Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Interacting with these statements and based on Chapter 8 of The Beginning of Wisdom and the topic overview, how would you answer someone who is concerned that Christianity portrays Jesus as the only way to salvation?
