The Control Function in Organizations
Control is an essential managerial function that helps organizations quickly achieve their set mission, vision, and goals. Managers use this strategy to allocate resources effectively within the firm so that intended strategies can be actualized on time. In the absence of the control function, organizational employees will not perform their roles within the scope provided by their job description documents. It is through the above managerial tool that executives can track staff performance and then use benchmarks to guide improvement plans (Cambalikova & Misun, 2017). Managers control aspects, such as budgets, so that an organization can be effective and efficient in its production output in the long run. Moreover, the control function allows managers to check for customer treatment and ensure it meets set standards to avoid legal redress that is costly to remedy. Overall, the control function in an organization is vital because it helps attain set objectives within the planned timeframe.
Managers can use technology to execute the control function. For instance, the leaders mentioned can use data analysis technology, such as big data, to assess the collected workforce or customer feedback. Information can be collected through data fed into a website in check-off points for firms that do not have busy operations or sending of e-surveys for assessment of targeted consumer satisfaction rates. Managers can also use software that monitors employee performance to ensure the set goals of executing assigned roles are achieved within the set time (Openstax, 2019). Lastly, managers can use technology to control internal operations, such as manufacturing, so as to avoid the production of excess inventory that will be sold at a loss or discarded. Overall, managers have the option of using technology to control internal organizational performance so as to achieve designed objectives.
