Question One: SWOT analysis
It would be beneficial to create a graphic that depicts the inflows, outflows, and feedback loops of a healthcare organization while a new electronic health record (EHR) system is being implemented. EHRs require extensive coordination and communication between different departments and stakeholders, including clinicians, IT staff, and administrators (ELKEFI et al., 2023). By creating a diagram that maps the inflows and outflows of information across different departments and feedback loops that enable communication and coordination, the organization can identify potential bottlenecks or areas of inefficiency in the system.
To use SWOT analysis within my own organization to find areas to improve or reorganize, I can gather a cross-functional team and conduct a SWOT analysis workshop. We can use SWOT analysis to identify the factors contributing to this issue, such as inadequate discharge planning, poor patient education, or lack of follow-up care.

In society at large, the use of systems thinking has had a significant impact on identifying process improvements and drawing conclusions on large problems. One such is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which offer a framework for solving difficult global issues, including poverty, inequality, and climate change. The SDGs require a systems thinking approach, as these challenges are interconnected and require collaboration across different sectors and stakeholders. By adopting a systems thinking mindset, governments, NGOs, and other organizations can identify innovative solutions and drive progress towards achieving the SDGs.
Question 2: Learning Activities That Were Beneficial and What Could Have Been Improved
One learning activity from this course that I found particularly beneficial is trust building. Building trust with colleagues is important in any work environment, but it is especially crucial in healthcare settings where patient safety and well-being are at stake. Effective communication is another learning activity I found beneficial. Effective communication is a critical skill in any job, but it is particularly important in healthcare settings where miscommunication can have serious consequences.
Thirdly, this course was beneficial since it enhanced my decision-making and problem-solving skills. The ability to make sound decisions and solve complex problems is a key attribute of successful healthcare leaders. This course provided me with the tools and frameworks to make informed decisions and solve problems effectively, which has been invaluable in my role as a revenue manager.
Lastly, the learning activities helped increase my knowledge. One of the key benefits of this course has been the increase in my knowledge and understanding of healthcare environments. I have gained a deeper understanding of the rules and regulations governing healthcare organizations and the strategies and tools used to manage healthcare operations. This knowledge has been instrumental in my role as a revenue manager, and I expect it to continue to benefit me in the future.
However, there are some ways I feel I could have improved my learning experience in this course. These would include providing more hands-on, practical experience, offering more opportunities for collaboration and discussion among students, providing more personalized feedback and support, and ensuring that the course content and assessments align with the stated learning objectives. Additionally, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies, such as gamification or virtual reality, could also enhance the learning experience.
