Sustainability Initiative Stakeholder Engagement Analysis and Strategy

Sustainability Initiative Stakeholder Engagement Analysis and Strategy

Part I: Stakeholder Identification Analysis

The sustainable initiative of optimizing lighting within the local hospital benefits several stakeholders, specifically, local suppliers, local community patients and families, the government, and employees. Regarding local suppliers, the initiative will benefit them through the purchase of lighting equipment and accessories from them, thus promoting the business. The local community patients and their families will benefit from enhanced care provision at the hospital because they will be able to receive service all around the clock. The government as a stakeholder will be essential for the initiative because government funding will assist in the initiative becoming a success. Additionally, the initiative aligns with the government’s policy of providing better healthcare to citizens (WHO, 2019). Lastly, employees working in the local hospital are essential stakeholders in the initiative. They will be responsible for managing it for the good of society, and there will be a mutual benefit from the project as it will make the employees’ workplace better for them.

Various partnerships can be formed between organizations to foster healthy competition and collaboration. For the local subject hospital, such partnerships can be made with non-governmental organizations that provide services to society, such as Florida Blue (Abdi et al., 2022). Partnering with this organization can help the local hospital enhance the quality of services provided to distinguish it from competitors. The overall quality of healthcare will improve to cope with the competition. Regarding collaboration, the local hospital can consider partnering with the local government to fund the initiative. The local government seeks ways to enhance citizens’ lives, and the local hospital forms a platform through which that goal can be achieved utilizing collaboration.

Community leaders with the power and influence to further the initiative on my behalf include local business leaders, community activists, local church leaders, and local government leaders. Essentially, all these leaders have followers upon whom they exercise power and influence (Yan et al., 2018). By utilizing this leverage, they can advance the message of better services at the local hospital built upon optimized lighting. For instance, church leaders can inform their followers about the new developments within the local hospital. Local community activists and government leaders can inform their followers of the new initiative and how it will benefit the overall community.

Part II: Patient Engagement Strategy

Engaging patients, their friends, and their families will involve direct and indirect approaches. As part of the direct approach, patients receiving care within the local hospital will be requested to voluntarily fill out an interview form on the hospital’s various activities, including the sustainable initiative. Since it is common that patients are often accompanied to the facilities by either their friends or family members, it will be possible to serve the interview forms to all these groups of individuals. The need to engage the patients through interview forms will be done at their discretion; therefore, only those willing to participate will be given a chance. The interview form will include questions regarding the quality of services provided in the hospital, particularly lighting. Their opinions will form a basis for improving or keeping up with the initiative as it is presently.

An indirect approach to get patients, their families, and friends to contribute to the sustainable initiative will entail the online promotion of the initiative. The initiative will be included in the advertisement messages presented to potential customers. After the advertisements, a keen assessment of the reactions and feedback in the form of likes and comments about the sustainable initiative will be made. Notably, this will inform the local hospital of the best way to incorporate the program in its strategic direction activities to gain more customers. For instance, if most of the reactions to the initiative are positive, the hospital will consider leaving it as it is. However, suppose there are concerns and complaints regarding the initiative. In that case, a follow-up will be made to correct any part of the program that does not sit well with the institution’s customers.

After collecting the experiences, testimonials, and opinions of patients, their families, and friends regarding the initiative, they will be incorporated into the local hospital’s strategic plans. Notably, this will be achieved by ensuring the mission and vision statements of the organization align with the patient’s need for a better service. Further, the opinions of patients and their families will be summarized in a report that the leadership of the local hospital will consider. Since the leadership is responsible for the institution’s strategic direction, they will incorporate the views and decisions they make that influence the competitiveness of the local hospital.

Part III: Promotional media strategy

Lighting optimization in the local hospital is a crucial initiative that affirms the organization’s commitment to enhancing the quality of patient services. Our organization will continue to work towards better service delivery, and this time round, a sustainable initiative to optimize the lighting within the hospital has been adopted. The initiative ensures that service provision will be available all around the clock and that patients and workers interact in a better and safer environment. The lighting optimization initiative involves using renewable solar energy to light the organization’s premises, thus enhancing our social responsibility. Further, optimizing the lighting within the institutions enhances security as patients and workers can work comfortably during the night. Thus, the environment in the hospital will be much safer than before. The initiative also entails lighting the hospital’s surroundings to ensure the local community benefits. Therefore, the initiative contributes to better well-being, and all community members are invited to participate in its implementation.

Social Media Posts

Social media strategies can help promote the initiative and invite community members to get involved a great deal. Various social media platforms to consider are YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The message to be shared across these platforms will entail a description of the initiative, its benefits to the community, and the importance of community participation in the process. The following four media posts will be included:

  • Lighting optimization sustainable initiative description
  • Various benefits for internal and external stakeholders
  • Cost savings for the healthcare organization
  • Importance of community participation in the initiative
