Strategic Planning and Implementation-Reflection
Internal and external environments are threats to an organization’s success. Assessing the organization’s internal and external environment assists in forecasting and identifying driving forces and barriers to strategic planning, which is the responsibility of the leadership team (Marquis, 2015). Effective leadership is important in any organization, and changes in the leadership style can have a considerable impact on the organization. It is the internal environment that will influence organizational activities, decisions, employee behaviors, and attitudes. The constant change in healthcare delivery mandate the need for strong leaders in healthcare organizations who are able to effectively create organizational goals and then motivate and inspire others within the organization to work toward achieving those goals (Woten & Schub, 2015). Healthcare changes every day, and if the leadership team, which is a part of the organizational structure, doesn’t adapt or support the changes, the staff, which is the frontline of patient care, will not be a part of or support the vision and mission of the organization. This can bring about so many different challenges for an organization, such as a decrease in patient satisfaction scores which ultimately is how hospitals receive their funding and certifications in the community. If an organization does not have supportive leaders who adhere to the changes, uplift staff, and help them build to their potential, any organization can easily fall apart.
