Statement of Interest – Pursue a Master of Public Health Degree 

My academic journey over the past ten years has been significantly influenced by my life experiences. I am currently seeking to pursue a Master of Public Health degree to acquire the knowledge needed to improve the quality of care offered in my workplace. I currently help run a childcare center that offers quality care to children from different backgrounds. My position as an administrator in the facility allows me to advocate for changes that can enhance the quality of care offered to the children at the childcare center, leading to improved healthcare outcomes. However, I currently have limited knowledge of how to formulate public health interventions and effectively design measures to promote health promotion strategies. This has motivated me to pursue a Master of Public Health degree because it will equip me with the knowledge I need to initiate and oversee healthcare delivery and management changes. I am also interested in the Master of Public Health degree because it will help me meet the academic qualifications needed to pursue different careers within the healthcare sector. The Master of Public Health degree will also help me acquire the qualifications needed to join healthcare policymakers, thus enabling me to introduce policies that improve childcare.

My background as a social worker and therapist has helped me understand the different challenges that people experience when seeking healthcare services and the impact of diseases on the affected patients and the people around them. This has motivated me to consider different careers that can help me improve public health practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and prepare for emergencies. One of the careers that I plan to pursue in the future is working as a global health specialist. The Master of Public Health degree will help me make progress toward this career by helping me develop a deeper understanding of global health issues. The Master of Public Health degree will also equip me with the knowledge I need to pursue a career in public health administration. For example, the degree will increase my knowledge about various diseases including lifestyle-related diseases and how to manage and prevent them. This knowledge is important in meeting my goal to improve the health and well-being of my community because I can apply it to promote healthier lifestyles and create a holistic approach involving overall wellness which involves public health and educate people about their health.

I believe I will be successful in graduate school because I will be applying what I learn in school at my childcare center, thus enhancing my understanding of the content of the course. For example, I can apply what I learn about health administration and occupational health and safety to promote healthy habits at my childcare center and improve public health communication. I also believe that I will be successful in graduate school because I understand the criteria used to assess academic assignments and the academic expectations that graduates should meet due to my experience as a graduate student during my undergraduate program. I am also confident that I will be successful in graduate school because I have read the school’s guidelines on student conduct and understand what is expected of me as a graduate student in your school. I am also determined to work hard and attain the highest score in the course assignments so that I can graduate with distinction and boost my qualifications for top positions in healthcare administration.
