Hello. I agree that social media has changed social interaction among people of different ages. For example, social media facilitates the interaction of people of different ages by creating anonymity. Therefore, people of different ages can interact by engaging in social media discussions and exchanging opinions and ideas without disclosing their age. According to Riley (2023), social media has also created a sense of urgency in communication, thus reducing the time taken to exchange information and connect with people worldwide. Social media has also increased social interaction by creating debates that provoke people to share their opinions and ideas. For instance, various social media campaigns against social issues such as racism and police violence have brought together people from different countries and backgrounds by creating a platform where people can exchange ideas and support social change by signing petitions.

Social media has also decreased physical interactions among people in the same society because people can exchange information and engage in meaningful online discussions. For example, people with a shared goal or people from a community can create a WhatsApp group to share information, thus eliminating the need for face-to-face meetings. Most social media groups also have the option to create live videos where people can engage in conversations about different topics without meeting face to face. The rapid growth in technology and the prevalence of the use of social media will continue transforming human interactions over the years, and people of different ages, including those aged between 70 and 80 years, will be forced to adapt to the use of common social media platforms such as WhatsApp to avoid being left out in social interactions. Therefore, it is vital to stay informed about the trends in the use of social media in human interactions and their impact on social interactions.
