Sharing Information with Stakeholders

Sharing Information with Stakeholders

There is no education without parent and community involvement. Teachers and administrators must develop strategies to work with families in positive ways and engage the community to increase student success (Van de Walle., 2018). Families want to know whether the school provides quality education, and in order to achieve this engagement, proper communication should be established to support teachers. Having proper communication channels will help share information with these stakeholders, who play a crucial role in the success of children’s education.

Ways to Communicate Effectively with Parents

Communicating with parents can be challenging at times. However, teachers can achieve this goal effectively with the right strategies and channels. One way to communicate with parents during the school year is to establish a sense of trust. Trust is vital in any communication. Parents need to trust their children’s teachers so that they can share everything. Lawal (2021) emphasizes that it is crucial when speaking to parents to assure them that anything discussed is confidential. Another strategy for effective teacher-parent communication is being optimistic. The teacher should always start by stating something good about the child. Even a little positivity helps to foster the flow of information. Another strategy is to communicate regularly. When there is an issue, the teacher should reach out to the parents, which helps in times of crisis.

Also, it is important to make parents feel valuable. All parents have something worthwhile to offer, especially during events and even in the classroom (Lawal, 2021). Encouraging them to participate in events helps to foster the spirit of sharing, which translates to good student performance. Lastly, the teacher should speak to parents in a transparent, respectful, and considerate manner. It is essential to always think before speaking because parents come from varied social and cultural backgrounds (Van de Walle., 2018). As such, teachers should ensure they respect the parents by using everyday language that all parents can understand. They should avoid using professional jargon because it makes parents feel alienated.

Involving the Community While Educating Students

Connecting students with the surrounding community helps to give students the experience of the natural world, hence helping them utilize available resources to foster their learning. I can involve the community while educating my students through volunteering in school, mentorship programs, and inviting them to school events. Young people learn their civic responsibilities by seeing what the community offers. Therefore, teachers should allow students to interact with communities to improve their learning experiences through interacting with fast-paced information from the communities around them.
