Scenario Design and Analysis- Case Study

Scenario Design and Analysis- Case Study

Background:

Andre Brian is a West African transgender male who arrived in the US as a student and got a scholarship to one of America’s famous universities. It is his second year on campus, and his performance is very outstanding. His behavior as a student is also admirable because he is disciplined and well-behaved. He believes that his qualities and performance can earn him a chance as one of the school’s student leaders in the coming elections.

The Scenario story:

As already mentioned, Andre is an African American with an ethnicity from West Africa. He got a scholarship to study in the US at one of the famous and well-performing universities. He has maintained his gender status as a transgender person in the US. Having been on the campus for the past two years and having held excellent public relations with the campus, Andre knows that he is well qualified to run for office in the coming students’ elections. The university requires that for one to qualify to stand for elections in any post on the campus, the individual should have been in the school for at least two academic years, have above-average academic scores, be disciplined, and relate well with students and instructors. Andre has met all these requirements, but his application is still rejected. The administration argues that Andre’s ideologies do not match those of the school. The school does not want to confess that they are directly uncomfortable with Andre’s gender. Andre’s colleagues also discriminate against him because of his race and gender.

Analysis of the scenario:

Andre has been denied a chance to qualify as a candidate to be part of the elections that will see him take a student leader position. The issues, in this case, are racism and gender discrimination. Racism manifests when Andre is treated with prejudice because of his race as an African  (Myers &Twenge, 2016). He is also denied a chance to be a leader because of his gender. This is a case of gender discrimination and racism.

Recommendation:

It is recommended that Andre should not give up on leadership because of the discrimination he is facing due to gender and race. It is also recommended that schools consider matters of racism and prejudice and protect learners from discrimination and victimization by drafting and implementing all-inclusive policies and regulations (Myers &Twenge, 2016).
