Romeo and Juliet Act II analysis

Romeo and Juliet Act II analysis

The classical play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare takes its readers on an emotional ride. The love between Romeo and Juliet is so intense it appears to be palpable. The two love birds express their love for each other in a way unlike no other. Additionally, it would seem to be the perfect love story but with a tragic ending. The family feuds between their two families play a more significant part in the play’s tragic ending. Moreover, was it not for the family feud, the two love birds might never have met when the Montagues attended the Capulet party. Act II Scene II demonstrates the intense feelings the two had for each other, and their relationship was playful in some instances.

Scene II allows us to interpret the characters of both Romeo and Juliet.  Accordingly, Romeo’s love, persistence, and motivation are made clear when he awaits Juliet near their house after her cousin kicks him and his counterparts out of the party. He talks to her and doesn’t leave even when Juliet informs him of her worry of getting caught. He continues to linger as he praises her beauty and confesses his love for her. Juliet’s character is also made clear as love-struck and playful. Juliet confesses her love for Romeo despite being mad that she fell in love with a man whose family did not get along with her own. Her disappointment is made clear when she asks him to change his name, and Romeo agrees to her idea. Her playfulness is demonstrated in the scene where she tells Romeo not to swear by the moon about their love.

Romeo and Juliet’s relationship appears to have manifested itself quickly between them. The two had only met, yet they were willing to get married the following day. Juliet’s confession of love, which she calls ‘light love,’ illustrates how fast their relationship was moving. The interpretations of the scene made in the video align with some of my interpretations of the romantic scene. The closest interpretation to mine is Juliet’s playful character.
