In Robert Frost’s poetry analysis, the author stresses the importance of using figurative language to connect with the audience. For example, in the poem Birches, the author communicates his desire to escape the realities of life using a playing child.

While writing the poem “Birches,” Robert Frost was inspired by his childhood experiences with swinging on birches. This was a common game during Frost’s upbringing in New England. Therefore while writing the poem, Frost was inspired by his childhood experiences and how, as a child, he enjoyed swinging with the branches of birches. For example, Frost says that playing with the birches was the only play he found himself, summer or winter, and he could play alone (Frost, 30)

Robert Frost’s poem, Birches, communicates a human desire to escape the realities of adulthood. In the poem, the author shares his thoughts, emotions, and feelings that cross his mind every time he sees a birch tree with bent branches. All this time, all he remembers is his childhood memories and wishes that he could go back to that time when life was simple with no depression and other stress. He wishes that the world could remain like that of a child who finds joy and satisfaction in simple things. However, the author gives hope and urges people that one could decide to embrace simple things in life and find satisfaction in them.

The poem Birches is a reflection of adults’ desires to escape the reality of life. One tends to admire the life of a child who is more likely to be satisfied by simple things in life, hence living a stress-free life. As expressed in the poem, the speaker longs for the fun he had when growing up, as all these experiences are still fresh in his mind. However, because one cannot go back to being a child, Frost emphasizes the need for people to embrace the little they have and live their lives with joy and happiness.
