The Main Points from each Video.

Rishi Manchada’s video argued that health treatment should focus on causes rather than symptoms. He advocated a holistic treatment approach that addresses the symptoms’ fundamental causes (TED, 2014). Veronica, a patient with chronic headaches, was referred by Manchada to a community health worker and public interest lawyer who could fix her housing conditions, which were causing her symptoms.

On the other hand, Dean Ornish’s video stressed that being healthy for ourselves is good for the earth. He discusses how our diets and lifestyles affect the environment and how adopting better alternatives may assist (TEDx Talks, 2012). He notes that reverting to pre-western diets may prevent and even cure many ailments that are becoming more common in many nations. He concludes that eco-friendly decisions are excellent for our health since they’re good for the earth.

Both films made valid arguments. I agree with Manchada that a more holistic approach to healthcare is required to address chronic health challenges in many areas (TED, 2014). Addressing environmental causes of symptoms may help cure and prevent diseases. I also agree with Ornish that our lifestyle choices may impact the environment and that eating more plant-based foods and less meat can make a big difference (TEDx Talks, 2012). Reduced meat consumption reduces the risk of chronic illnesses and also benefits the environment.

The Things I Learned from These Videos

I learned from these movies that the livestock business emits 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions, more than the worldwide transportation system, which emits 13%. I also learned that food and lifestyle changes might prevent and cure many illnesses and disorders and that what’s good for me is good for the globe (TED, 2014; TEDx Talks, 2012).

One Thing I Learned from the Course

Making conscious, environmentally and health-friendly food choices is something I’ve learned from this course and want to incorporate into my daily life. In addition, I want to make long-term adjustments to my lifestyle, such as exercising for 30 minutes every day and maintaining a healthy weight, to lower my chance of getting chronic illnesses. I also want to be conscientious of my items and attempt to use less of those that are bad for the planet.
