Additionally, there is a need to improve the working conditions for home healthcare workers if the issue of shortage is to be fully addressed. Improving the working conditions can include providing the right tools and equipment to support home care delivery, such as PPEs (Grabowski & Mor, 2020), and improving the compensation rates and wages, among other benefits. There is also a need to incorporate technology into the home care field. If employed in home care, technologies such as telemedicine reduce the workers’ workload and exposure to unnecessary risks (Mills et al., 2020). In America, the elderly community has experienced a shortage in home health care and caregiving for some time. The pandemic did not help the situation, yet worsened the risks. With a shortage in labor, the immigrant workforce has become a devoted group in home health care. “Many long-term care workers are from countries where English is the official language or taught in school, like the Philippines” (Moe, A., 2022).
