The research question at hand is: how strong is the relationship between bullying regarding sexual orientation and suicide attempts in school-age children? The rates of suicide attempts amongst school-age children owing to bullying regarding sexual orientation continue to increase each day, and as such, exploration of this question is highly vital. The research hypothesis is that there is a high correlation between bullying for sexual orientation and suicide attempts among school-age children. Since this is a study that requires the investigation of children, and they tend to be a protected population in research, exploring the secondary data option will be the preferred primary option for this study. This will include exploring past research articles that have been previously done on this topic. Facts, ideas, and data from various studies will be compared and analyzed. Similarities of the data from these studies will be highlighted. Article synthesis will also be done. As such, the data obtained will mainly be obtained online. Johns et al. (2018) state that youths recognized as bisexual, gay, lesbian, or additional nonheterosexual identity tend to report increased substance abuse, violence victimization, and suicide risk. Such an article will be crucial for the research. In this line, the CDC’s youth risk behavior survey will be highly beneficial to this research. Data from the survey will help confirm some deductions from the previous studies. Typically, the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) data and reports will be analyzed. For instance, Johns et al., 2020 is a YRBSS report demonstrating the violence victimization and suicide threat trends among high school learners as a result of sexual identity.
