Reflection on the Course MDC I

Apply strategies for safe, effective, multidimensional nursing practice when providing primary care and comfort for clients.

            We studied the essentials of giving safe, fundamental nursing care at the start of the course. We discussed ways to incorporate many levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs into nursing practice (Hopper, 2020). The patient’s demands must be met following the fundamental hierarchy of human needs for our care delivery models to be successful.

Select appropriate nursing interventions when providing multidimensional care to clients experiencing alterations in mobility.

            I discovered many issues that every body system’s decreased mobility reflects. I identified interventions that would be helpful, such as mobility devices, adjustment, and leg lifting, after studying the potential issues to watch for, such as diminished perfusion, poor skin integrity, and higher fall risk. I gained knowledge of the elements of a NANDA-accepted nursing diagnosis (Black, 2019). This will enable me to develop a complete care plan for my patient with a clear, doable, and timely objective. 

Explain components of multidimensional nursing care for clients with musculoskeletal disorders.

            I learned about many musculoskeletal conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoporosis, and osteomyelitis in lessons 5 and 6. The symptoms and signs associated with some of these conditions include pain, swelling, and redness. I gained knowledge on a variety of topics, including fractures and the phases of bone healing. With my increased understanding of bone healing and fractures, I will be better able to analyze a fracture and determine how to encourage bone healing, such as by offering the patient a nutritious diet.

Prioritize strategies for safe, effective multidimensional nursing practice when providing care for clients experiencing sensory and perception disorders.

            During the 7th module, I gained knowledge of various eye conditions and the accompanying therapies. For instance, I discovered that eye drop treatment for cataracts and glaucoma is necessary and lasts for long periods, requiring several administrations of eye drops. I discovered that the essential thing in treatment is to avoid getting sick. Given that infections are more likely to occur when receiving eye drop treatment, showing the patient how to give eye drops safely is crucial.

Apply knowledge of integumentary disorders when providing safe, effective nursing care.

            In unit 8, I learned about the skin and things like excessive sunlight exposure, immobilization, and pathogens that can damage the skin’s health. I gained knowledge of several skin assessment indicators to look for and their potential meanings. For instance, I discovered that redness might be a sign of body heating and an infection (Black, 2019). I can spot possible infections or inadequate blood flow if I understand what to watch for in skin evaluation.

Describe strategies for safe, effective, multidimensional nursing practice when caring for clients experiencing immunologic, infectious, and inflammatory disorders.

I discovered that practicing good hand hygiene and identifying people with weakened immune systems who are more susceptible to infection are the best ways to help prevent infection. After understanding this, I believe that I will include teaching about hand cleanliness in my patient’s education, regardless of their circumstances or conditions (Black, 2019), not just for themselves but also for everyone else around.
