Reflection on Skills Gained
The skills gained through the course include analytical and budgeting as an HRM professional; analytical skills are critical in the creation of a new generation of HR staff. Analytical skills refer to HR’s ability to analyze employee data. This leads to a better understanding of the workforce. Upon understanding the workforce, the HRM can easily engage them to ensure greater productivity. A Gallup survey established that only 13 percent of staff members globally are engaged. This engagement does not reap significant results due to the disengaged employees. In addition, absenteeism in most organizations also occurs over a long-term basis, affecting productivity (Subramanian, 2017). Thus, the analytical skills gained in this course will create a significant foundation for developing the same skills as they relate to managing human resources.
Budgeting skills are important for every profession. In HRM, budgeting is critical because it enables the department to obtain the necessary funds for various projects and activities. These activities include recruitment, training, recognition/awards, overtime payments, payroll, employee benefits, food and beverages, incentives, insurance, commuting, and other administrative expenses. All these expenses need to be budgeted for while taking into consideration multiple factors that affect the availability of financial resources (Amakobe, 2017). Thus, understanding the budgeting process allows an individual to accurately plan the financial resources while considering any incoming benefits that could arise from these activities. Such basic knowledge is critical because HR managers may be required to justify each item before including it in the list. This is zero-based budgeting. Projections must be made to help with the budgeting process (SHRM, 2022). For that reason, budgeting is a critical skill that will facilitate HRM operations. Do you need help with your assignment ?
