Real Estate Personal SWOT Analysis

Real Estate Personal SWOT Analysis

SWOT analysis is a method of analyzing internal strengths and weaknesses and external opportunities and threats. The evaluation method is essential for businesses in making strategic decisions to improve their industry competitiveness. Individuals also conduct a SWOT analysis to assess their career potential or when searching for new job opportunities. The personal assessment is vital in achieving goals and establishing an individual’s position on the corporate ladder. A SWOT assessment uncovers the unique strengths to implement, helps to manage the shortcomings, discovers the development opportunities, and overcomes the threats hindering growth. This essay seeks to perform a personal SWOT analysis of my skills as a Licensed Real Estate Agent.

Strengths

One of my most significant strengths is that I am a hard worker; this has mainly contributed to my success. I am committed and dedicated to working efficiently to achieve better results. In my previous job as a sales representative, I always put extra effort into delivering more than was expected of me. My commitment to the role was reflected in my outstanding performance compared to the rest of the team members. I believe that with my hard work and being my boss in the real estate agent position, I will be able to meet and exceed my expectations.

Equally important, I am self-motivated, which gives me a competitive advantage over other employees in the industry. I am always open-minded about my career and profession, looking for new ways to improve my productivity. Besides being open-minded, I quickly grasp the changing environment and adapt to new and advanced business methods. My accountability and passion for trying new things make me a good fit for the real estate agent position.

Another unique positive trait I possess is the ability to solve problems. I enjoy working with people in a team and helping them find solutions to difficult and complex issues. In my career path, I have faced situations that were not foretold before, requiring me to think critically and solve problems. The real estate agent will likely encounter these inevitable obstacles, making problem-solving skills a valuable requirement for the position mentioned (Carnegie, 2020).

In addition, I am a team player able to coordinate and work with different kinds of people. In my career, I have demonstrated excellent performance working as a team and individually in our academic assessments. I believe this is an essential requirement for the real estate agent position because of the nature of its work. Negotiating with customers and relating well with brokers and other employees will result in great success in the business.

Weaknesses

Analyzing our weaknesses helps us realize the areas we need to grow and improve (Carnegie, 2020). For example, one of my shortcomings in my career path is taking too long to make final decisions on my professional and personal matters. This shortcoming is one of the areas for improvement since it has affected my career negatively, and I would like the same not to repeat itself in my professional work as an agent. Therefore, one of the strategies I intend to apply is managing my time well to help reduce the amount of time spent making decisions.

Furthermore, my small circle of influence currently also reveals a weakness. Most of my close friends and interactions are with former students. A small circle of influence in real estate translates to few referrals, few customers, and, eventually, low business levels (MENG, 2019). I intend to do follow-ups and reach out to customers to review their experience with the real estate properties to widen the customer base. In real estate, the larger the customer base and the clients you interact with, the higher the sales results (Duttro, 2008).

In addition, I am weak in saying no when someone asks for my hand in something. Therefore, when I cannot help the person, I always seek other resourceful persons who can give the aid. This shortcoming has affected my learning progress in college by dividing my attention among various things. To handle the matter, I have established a strategy to help those I am in a position to help and let the rest go since it is impossible to assist everyone.

Opportunities

Several opportunities are linked to the position of a licensed real estate agent. Being a licensed agent, I can interact with other real estate agents with whom we can collaborate in making strategic decisions (Duttro, 2008). Moreover, fishing for a model agent I can emulate can play a vital role in improving my skills. Reaching out and interacting with people as agents will make me aware and stay updated on current events.

In real estate, the opportunity for growth and increased earnings potential is unlimited. Studies reveal that licensed agents who are resilient and committed to their jobs perform tremendously well both in high and low seasons (Duttro, 2008). The agents can increase their earnings through referrals from their previous clients. In addition, the agents can relocate and move to areas with relatively high housing costs to boost their estimated profits.

Working as a real estate agent presents room for increasing your earning potential and personal growth. Acquiring knowledge and more expertise in the field leads to an improved agent reputation. As an experienced agent, the more you grow, the more you expand your customer base, increasing your net worth. In addition, the agent can identify areas to focus on to achieve more significant results and break even.

Threats

Following the current state of the nation’s economy, there exist uncertainties about one’s potential income. This uncertainty threatens the real estate agents with the loss or reduction of their income source. The economy may negatively affect the real estate industry, leading to companies considering layoffs (Duttro, 2008). However, the additional heavy workload resulting from the employee shortage impairs an individual’s creative thinking.

Being a fresh real estate agent, I am exposed to the threat of newbie blues (Duttro, 2008). This threat exists when other colleagues deny you the respect you earn and you are regarded as a newbie. As a real estate agent, I am exposed to being ignored by the team, especially the administration, when seeking their help. Thus, a strategy for dealing with the newbie blues is to clarify to the management that you need their support and guidance to help you catch up with the new job.

Conclusion

Carrying out a SWOT analysis assessment on an individual is a very significant exercise. The evaluation is beneficial since it helps establish personal strengths, shortcomings, opportunities, and possible threats. An individual gets an insight into their competitiveness and areas for improvement, which benefits the person and the organizations they work for. The SWOT analysis emphasizes applying the strengths, addressing the weaknesses, making good use of the available opportunities, and overcoming the threats.
