Putting Parents to Work

Putting Parents to Work

Putting parents to work in the classroom ensures parents are involved in their children’s education. Therefore, parental involvement in the classroom is important because it is vital to learners’ educational success. When a teacher involves parents or puts them on a task in a classroom, they get extra help necessary to assist struggling learners in improving their performance (Lareau 62). Placing parents to work in the classroom will also promote a lasting love of learning in every learner, creating more excited and engaged students. With the advantages of putting parents to work in the classroom, I believe I will be able to work with parents in the classroom.

I can work with parents in a classroom because every teacher wants parents to feel they are part of their children’s learning. As such, ensuring I put parents to the task would be important. This will help new or beginning learners cope with the new learning environment. So, I will put parents to work in the classroom by opening communication lines and encouraging parental presence within the classroom. Giving home enrichment opportunities will help me bring parents on board as learning partners.

Putting parents to work in a classroom will ensure parents become responsible for their children’s development and learning. Therefore, since I want parents to be responsible, I will create a parent’s center within my classroom to help put parents to work. This center will be either outside or within the classroom. Parents can sign in when they volunteer, look through learners’ work, read school materials, browse the class calendar, and pick up extra copies of forms or learning materials. A parent center will encourage parents to get more involved in school activities and their children’s learning. Consequently, parental involvement will promote effective partnerships between the school, teacher, and parents, ultimately leading to improved performance among learners.
