Primary Care Role

Primary Care Role

When I was in high school, I had my wisdom teeth removed. The surgery went well, but I was in much pain afterward. I was not given pain medication or antibiotics and got an infection. I had to go back to the dentist to get it treated.

The infection was painful, and I took over-the-counter pain medication, but it was not enough. I ended up missing a lot of classes and was not able to participate in my extracurricular activities. I was also worried about the dentist visits and medication costs.

If I had gotten the care I needed after the surgery, I would have been in less pain and would have been able to go about my normal activities. I would have also been less likely to have an infection.

There are many reasons why I did not get the care I needed after my surgery. One reason is that my family does not have health insurance. We could not afford the surgery and did not qualify for government assistance.

Another reason is that we live in rural areas with few dentists or doctors nearby. We would have had to travel a long distance to see a dentist or doctor, and we could not afford to do that.
Finally, we did not know anything about getting dental or medical care. My parents did not have dental or medical care when they were growing up, so they did not know how to get it for me.

If we had had health insurance, we would have been able to pay for the surgery, and I would have gotten the care I needed. If we had lived in a city, there would have been more dentists and doctors nearby, and we could have gone to see them. If we had known more about getting dental and medical care, we would have been able to get it for me.
Getting the care I needed after my surgery would have made a big difference. I would have been in less pain and would have been able to go about my normal activities. I would have also been less likely to have an infection.

Factors that can impact an individual’s access to healthcare services

Lack of health insurance

This is among the most common factors impacting an individual’s access to healthcare services. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2018, approximately 27.5 million Americans were uninsured. This means that these individuals do not have access to quality health insurance coverage and, as a result, may have difficulty accessing needed healthcare services. One of the main reasons the lack of health insurance can impact an individual’s access to healthcare services is that it can make it difficult for them to afford the cost of care. In the United States, healthcare costs are extremely high, and without health insurance, individuals are often forced to pay for their care out-of-pocket. This can be a major financial burden, particularly for those struggling to make ends meet. Additionally, the lack of health insurance can make it difficult for individuals to receive preventive care, leading to serious health problems.

Geographical location

Another factor can impact an individual’s access to healthcare services. For example, an individual living in a rural area may have difficulty accessing healthcare services due to the lack of nearby healthcare providers. Additionally, individuals living in areas with a high concentration of poverty may have difficulty accessing quality healthcare due to the lack of resources in their community.

Socioeconomic status

This is another important factor impacting an individual’s access to healthcare services. Studies have shown that lower-income individuals are less likely to have access to quality healthcare than those with higher incomes. This is often because lower-income individuals are less likely to have health insurance and may also live in communities with fewer resources. Lower-income individuals may also have difficulty affording the cost of care, even if they can find quality healthcare providers.
