Preparing for Advanced Practice- Anticipating Three Ps and Clinical Demands

Preparing for Advanced Practice- Anticipating Three Ps and Clinical Demands

I am excited to start this course, and I can’t wait to get in class and pursue my dream career. After listening to the lecture, I was surprised to know that we were going to learn more about telehealth. I had the impression that telehealth was only applicable during the COVID-19 era when patient physical visits were restricted. However, I am open to learning skills and knowledge of how to help my patients using telehealth. In addition, I am excited to learn how to employ telehealth in the event that a circumstance similar to COVID-19 arises in the future.

Taking into consideration my work-life-school situation, my greatest concern is whether I will be able to balance my time at work, school, and home. I plan to sacrifice my time and put more focus on pursuing this course. This means I have to reduce the time I spend in my social life and use any spare time I get to study. I am worried that I may strain myself because of the long hours I will be spending in school and at work, which may ultimately cause health problems. However, I am up for the task and ready to give it my all, for nothing comes easy.

Goals

My first 3P goal is to read ahead in my resource textbook one chapter a week.

My second 3P goal is to set aside 5 hours a week in which I will spend 60 minutes 5 nights a week from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. to study pharmacology.

My third 3P goal is to develop 35 flashcards in a week for every P class.

Clinical Goals

My first clinical goal is not to overextend my work to part-time but to reduce the work so that I can create 18 hours a week for clinical practice sessions.

My second clinical aim is to visit 5-7 clinics per week and search for pediatric, family medicine, and women’s health preceptors until I find someone for each clinical.

My third clinical goal is to complete 40 additional hours during my primary care clinical in the outpatient speciality.
