Personal Reflection
Personal and Professional Values and Goals
My personal and professional values include dependability, determination, hard work, and getting the job done. As an individual, I hope to be a key influencer among my peers, learn from them, and have them learn something from me. I hope to develop various personal skills like communication, which will help me interact with family, colleagues, and friends. Academically, I strive to employ the skills of hard work, attain the best grades, and ensure that I am an all-around student by engaging in various extracurricular activities that will boost my social, physical, and mental skills and my social network. Professionally, I hope to build a strong network, improve my skills to remain competitive and relevant, and also improve my team collaboration and agility skills. I also hope that I will be able to work in an organization in which my skills and competence can be fully utilized and developed at the same time.
Skills’ Strengths and Weaknesses
My main areas of strength are my relationship-building skills and my ability to be results-driven. I am an individual who is results-oriented. This makes me push myself and those around me to get the job done best. I do not compromise my integrity in the process. I pride myself on being an individual with high integrity. My friends also tell me I have solid social and relationship-building skills. These skills help me effectively work with other people as a team and use networks where appropriate. Therefore, I try to make friends and learn from people as much as I can because the world we are in today is more based on our social capital.
However, I hope to improve my communication skills. Working with people entails seeking to understand them better and be able to exercise such skills as empathy and active listening. Even though I love working with people, some of my friends highlighted that I tend to be understood more than to understand, which bars effective communication. Effective communication entails effectively listening to others and delivering and seeking information. I believe working on my social and self-awareness skills can help me improve communication. I also hope to improve my agility skills since I tend to be rigid, yet the workforce and the warranty constantly change. Agility is a crucial skill needed in the workplace, and therefore, I hope to develop this skill and embrace change more often.
Previous Accomplishments
Challenge | Most of my colleagues feared approaching our department manager because he appeared harsh and hostile, barring effective communication. |
Action | I suggested a weekly face-to-face meeting involving all department members, including the department manager, in which individuals were to express themselves freely. |
Result | At first, employees were reluctant to speak their minds, but after two weeks, everyone had loosened up. |
Details | The fear that employees in my department had for the department manager barred them from engaging in effective communication with him, and this caused some individuals with creative and innovative ideas to fail to bring them up for fear of being shut down. After the weekly face-to-face meetings began, there were improved, honest, and respectful conversations among employees, and the manager and individuals began to share their ideas and offer opinions for improvement freely. |
Challenge | Customers complained about prolonged waiting times. |
Action | I benchmarked competitors, suggested using chatbots, sought relevant resources, and participated in its implementation. |
Result | When the chatbot technology was implemented, after one month, there was a 90% reduction in complaints and a 40% increment in positive reviews regarding waiting time in the organization. |
Details | About 50 customers complained about the organization because of long waiting times. After implementing chatbox technology, the thoughts became positive, with about 80 customers showing high satisfaction with services, 5-star ratings pos, positive reviews about how efficient our services had become, and only five complaints about other waiting times. |
Accomplishment 1 Story: Result + action + brief description including clarifying details. |

Accomplishment 2 Story: Result + action + brief description including clarifying details. |
There was a 90% reduction in customer complaints about long waiting times one month after the implementation of the chatbox technology, and positive reviews and better organization ratings increased by 40%. |
Self-reflection Benefits
Reflecting on my goals, strengths, areas of growth, and accomplishments has helped me become more aware of myself. I have learned the places I am good at and the areas I need to improve professionally and personally. I can make use of daily journaling to be able to practice my reflection skills. By writing down everything I experience daily, my daily interactions with people, how I handled certain things, and what I could or should have done differently, I believe I will become more self-aware- and socially aware.
My strengths in relationship building and innovation helped me accomplish the abovementioned accomplishments. Since I strive to ensure an environment where everyone can work together, my relationship-building skills helped me develop a way of ensuring that individuals in my department communicate well. This also broke down the rigid hierarchical structure that thwarts new innovative ideas and open communication. My creative skills helped me to find new ideas by benchmarking other organizations to find out how they dealt with the problem of long waiting times. In doing so, I was able to come up with a proper solution to the problem and helped increase productivity in the company.
I feel more confident expressing my accomplishments to an employer after writing my achievements in a CV. By writing my actions down, I could identify other skills that I had, which will help me feel more confident in expressing some of my strengths, skills, and ideas that I can bring to a new organization. Writing down my accomplishments also made me aware of the fact that I am an innovative and creative person. Given that some of the skills I employed in making the stated acts are in high demand in the current workplace, I believe I will have increased confidence in expressing such skills and achievements to an employer.
